Independents, Awake

The most intelligent voters in America are independents. They do not ally themselves with either
extreme political party or some six year candidate but independents try to vote wisely on unique
issues one by one. That is to say one issue may have a different origin and may therefore need
a different style of understanding solution than other issues.

Independents try for the most part try to do this: They see the randomness and uniqueness of things,
so they try to vote on politically unique issues one by one. They do not see answers divided rigidly
between two parties of which two, you must pick one. Hooey to that!

For this reason intelligent, independent voters, of whom there are many, are not treated fairly in America
for big issues are not taken up one by one and voted on by the people. The voter with or of an independent
mind has no place to go in present day American democracy.

Here is what faces an independent voter. If he or she wants to get a vote on “A” in, then the voter has
to pick a candidate who will vote his way on an issue but has been given the voters’ vote for other
issues for his term of say, six years.

Now get this: To get your vote on “A” issue, as an independent you have to resign your vote for six years
to a weirdo legislator who may vote your way on “A” but then can vote whatever way he or she wants on
your vote for the next six years. Look at it this way: To get your vote on “A” you have to resign your vote
on “B to Z” to a politician for the next six years. In my opinion this is highway robbery. Or blackmail!

Now true democratic voting should be done on big issues over a period of time, issue by issue, so an
independent voter then gets to vote on ISSUES. The voter is then not backed into a mean medieval
corner where he must vote on a representative personality when the independent voter sensibly wants
to vote issues. To hell with the personality stuff. I think that’s so ad hominem instead of being on the
subject. They get side tracked on personalities when they should be concentrating on issues.

I mean voting personalities is so backward and medieval now that voters can use technology to vote
on issues and have a partially real democracy where the people vote on issues instead of groping
around in the dark with politicians. Or dancing around with two silly parties built on opposite thinking
when the answer is probably in the middle. But the Good Sense Party is not to be found between
two party extremes.

Good sense is how you get thrown out of political parties. I mean Good Sense is usually moderate and
sensible. No room for that in Washington in either party. Usually you have to a Republican or Democrat
or lose your party’s campaign donation to your re-election campaign. Remember in Washington money
makes the mare go, particularly campaign money. Just imagine seven moral dwarfs going off singing,
“High ho, it’s to campaign we go” They are carrying money in sacks. Then you’ve got Washington
up and down.

Let’s put it this way. I don’t like or respect either political party. They are Tweedledum and
Tweedledee, Both parties are broken down and nobody can put them back together again
or should try. Both are out to borrow the country into bankruptcy, but borrowing for different
causes (no cause is good enough to justify national bankruptcy). Generally the two parties
are under the influence, entirely intoxicated, by a cheap and easy idealism that says America
should do everything as well as pay for everything for everybody everywhere on borrowed
money. I mean, Reality, where art thou?

Anybody who wants to argue that what is wrong in the United States can be cured by changing the
political parties in power and in charge is, I suggest, crazy as a bedbug Some major structural
changes are needed. One of them is direct voting by the people on big issues. The other change
is letting the people rule some, give real democracy a chance.

George Washington in his farewell address warned America against too much politics and political
parties. The more I read his advice and speeches, the wiser I think George Washington was.
(Everybody read it if you have not, Then prepare to march!)

Yes, it’s going to take time to update America to use the new technology in voting and therefore
improve democracy. Many people all over the world need the same thing we in America do:
more direct voting on big issues.

Yes, voting on big issues by the people is going to take time, effort.and struggle to accomplish..
Yes, the old fashioned will fight it. Yes, it will finally come anyway. Voting will be streamlined.
Democracy will be updated to be much more democratic and objective, centering more on issues
instead of preoccupation with personalities. And those of the future will comment, “Yes, it came late
and took time to implement, but it came. Better late than never.?”

And it is my feeling that the happiness of the people increases as democracy abounds.
So may democracy, direct voting of the people on issues, like grace, abound!
